Minnesota Twins Break Attendance Record in 2010

The Minnesota Twins are a hot ticket around this town. With a brand new ballpark and a team that is one of the best in all of baseball, the team has officially broken their attendance records for a season. The AL Central champions have drawn 3,063,327 through Wednesday's game against Cleveland. That breaks the previous record of 3,030,672 set in 1988, the year after the Twins won their first World Series championship. There are still 4 more home games to wrap up the season against the Toronto Blue Jays so that number will increase even more. Congratulations Minnesota Twins fans!

Ready for Playoff Baseball at Target Field?

Target FieldIn the inaugural season at Target Field, the Minnesota Twins looked prime for a postseason birth. They currently have a magic number of 8 (combined Minnesota Twins wins and Chicago White Sox losses) until the American League Central Division is officially theirs. They also have their sights set on a higher prize: the best record in the American League, thus securing home field advantage throughout the playoffs. For now, a division title will be okay first. That would give the Minnesota Twins back-to-back AL Central Championships and 6 titles in the last 9 years (almost 7 - Game 163 in 2008). Twins fans be ready to purchase some playoff tickets!

No Dome? No Problem. Minnesota Twins Stay Hot at Target Field

Target FieldMany critics claimed the Minnesota Twins would not have the same home field advantage at Target Field that they did at the Metrodome. It is now September 8th and the Minnesota Twins currently have the highest winning percentage at home, with a 47-23 record. They are 18-3 in their last 21 games at home. Needless to say, the Minnesota Twins would love to have that home field advantage for the AL playoffs.

They are currently 4.5 games ahead of the Chicago White Sox in the AL Central and trail the New York Yankees by 4 games for the best record in the American League. First things first- a playoff birth (winning the AL Central over the Chicago White Sox). However, it would be a cherry on top if they somehow captured homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. Go Twins!

Torii Hunter Raves about Target Field

Former Twin and current Angel Torii HunterTorii Hunter was a fan favorite and wore the Minnesota Twin jersey proudly. After years of playing in the Metrodome, Torii Hunter left for greener pastures in Los Angeles, California. Although he is an Angel, he will always be a Twin. Torii Hunter was so important for the Twins during the pivotal years after Kirby Puckett. The team was supposed to be contracted from baseball. After visiting Target Field for the first time last weekend, Hunter couldn't help but be emotional. He knew he was a big reason that stadium is there today. In an interview after playing at the new ballpark, Torii Hunter said, "Target Field is better than Yankee Stadium. It's the best stadium in baseball." I agree with Torii, Target Field is the best stadium in baseball.

Post Game Fireworks at Target Field

Target FieldI was at the Minnesota Twins game on Friday, August 13th against the Oakland Athletics. After the 4-3 victory in which Carl Pavano posted his AL tying 15th victory of the year there were beautiful postgame fireworks. Target Field turned off all the lights except for the glowing TWINS sign in center field - it was majestic. It made me proud to be a Minnesota Twins fan since I was just a kid. The number of fans that stayed showed the loyalty of the fanbase for the hometown team. Simply put - Twins baseball is awesome. If you haven't been to Target Field you really need to go.
