Trees in Center Field To Be Taken Down at Target Field
Remember the trees that graced center field at Target Field? Well, they will be a memory because they will be taken out for the 2011 MLB Season. Twins President Dave St. Peter said Friday that the trees are coming out as part of a plan to help hitters see pitches better. According to the Star Tribune, "As the inaugural season went on, players began to mention that the trees swaying in the breeze interfered with their ability to lock in on pitches." The glare effected both Twins players and visiting players. Apparently the Seattle Mariners had a problem similiar to the Twins and they plan on using the same backdrop that the Mariners use. They hope it will help out with the glare.

Bert wore #28 for the team and his number will be retired on July 16 against the Texas Rangers. Jesse Crain had previously worn number 28 but he joined the Chicago White Sox this past offseason. Congratulations to Bert Blyleven!

Tony Oliva Statue Planned For Target Field
The Minnesota Twins have announced that Minnesota Twin legend Tony Olivia will be the newest member to join the statue collection outside of Target Field. The 8-Time All-Star will join the ranks of Kirby Puckett, Harmon Killebrew and Rod Carew who all have their own statues.
Tony Oliva is still waiting for the Hall of Fame and the Veterans Committee voting takes place next December. Tony Olivia makes a great candidate for the Hall of Fame. The statue is expected to be unveiled on or around opening day of the 2011 Season.

Favorite Target Field Memory of 2010
My favorite Target Field memory of the 2009-2010 season was when Jim Thome blasted a 10th inning walk off home run for the victory over the Chicago White Sox. The Twins were down by 1 and everything sensed that Thome could end it with one swing of the bat. Sometimes with Jim Thome it either goes a mile or it's a K. This one didn't miss and there was no doubt about it, offering one of the longest walkoff home runs I have ever seen. It was a magical game against a division rival. I believe the final score read 8-7 if I recall correctly. That was my favorite Target Field memory of 2010.
