Jim Thome Returns Home to Minnesota

Jim Thome will be returning to Target Field with the Indians pretty soon here and its about time you get ready.

September 16 - 19, the Twins will host the Indians at Target Field. With it seeming like both teams are out of contention, the game has lost its playoff excitement, but you can bet fans will still turn up to Target Field in the masses.

Why? Jim Thome. Minnesota misses the big guy and can't wait to give hime a welcome back round of applause. Can't wait to tune in! I only wish I could be there!

Jim Thome Nears the 600 Homer Mark

Jim Thome TwinsAs Jim Thome closes out the chase for his 600th home run. With Thome's loyalty to the Minnesota Twins keeping him at Target Field instead of, say... Ranger Stadium, has excited Twins fans especially as Thome nears the 600-mark.

Only seven players before Thome have hit for 600 home runs. The novelty of the high home run total has diminished some because of the players who have been linked to steroids and other banned performance-enhancing drugs (see Mark McGwire, Rafael Palmeiro and Manny Ramirez). However, we should remember that Jim Thome is one of the most respected players in baseball because of his humble and generous demeanor.

Thome, while focused on hitting his 600th homer, has always maintained his number one priority of helping the Minnesota Twins bounce back from a rough start and finish this season strong with a hope of making the playoffs.

Congratulations, Jim Thome; you are almost there! And, thank you for making this season another season at Target Field!

Kansas City Minnesota Twins Series Preview

The Twins begin a series with the Kansas City Royals tonight. This is a huge series for the Twins. It is their first series since the All Star break. While they are six and a half games back, this stretch until the deadline will be the final push for the team. If they falter and move back to say 8 or 9 games back by the time that July 31st deadline rolls around, they will likely be sellers and could trade away some interesting players. Players that could be dealt include Francisco Liriano, Michael Cuddyer, and Jim Thome. Here are the pitching match ups for the Twins upcoming series with the Kansas City Royals.

July 14th:

Liriano (5-7) Chen (5-2)

July 15th:

Blackburn (7-6) Hochevar (5-8)

July 16th:

Pavano (6-6) Francis (3-10)

July 17th:
Duensing (6-7) Paulino (1-6)

Favorite Target Field Memory of 2010

Jim Thome Hits a Walk Off Home Run Against the Chicago White SoxMy favorite Target Field memory of the 2009-2010 season was when Jim Thome blasted a 10th inning walk off home run for the victory over the Chicago White Sox. The Twins were down by 1 and everything sensed that Thome could end it with one swing of the bat. Sometimes with Jim Thome it either goes a mile or it's a K. This one didn't miss and there was no doubt about it, offering one of the longest walkoff home runs I have ever seen. It was a magical game against a division rival. I believe the final score read 8-7 if I recall correctly. That was my favorite Target Field memory of 2010.
