Favorite Target Field Memory of 2010

Jim Thome Hits a Walk Off Home Run Against the Chicago White SoxMy favorite Target Field memory of the 2009-2010 season was when Jim Thome blasted a 10th inning walk off home run for the victory over the Chicago White Sox. The Twins were down by 1 and everything sensed that Thome could end it with one swing of the bat. Sometimes with Jim Thome it either goes a mile or it's a K. This one didn't miss and there was no doubt about it, offering one of the longest walkoff home runs I have ever seen. It was a magical game against a division rival. I believe the final score read 8-7 if I recall correctly. That was my favorite Target Field memory of 2010.

Minnesota Sports Story of the 2010 Year: Opening of Target Field

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the sports story of the 2010 year was the opening of Target Field. LinkI, for one, agree with this point. As an avid Minnesota sports fan, Target Field is an absolutely phenomenal stadium and has done wonders for Downtown Minneapolis. This is what the article reads:

"In what would become the story of the summer, the Twins opened Target Field in April to rave reviews and a sound victory over the Boston Red Sox. It was an unseasonably warm and sunny April afternoon, and the auspicious start was a sign of things to come."

Congratulations Target Field!

Could the Minnesota Vikings Ever Play at Target Field?

Minnesota VikingsIn case you missed it, there was a blizzard. In case you missed it, the Metrodome Roof collapsed. Okay, so everyone already knows that in Minnesota. Since the Metrodome is considered unplayable, the Minnesota Vikings will take on the Chicago Bears at TCF Bank Stadium. So, my question is, could the Minnesota Vikings ever play at Target Field? Here my perspective is that the Minnesota Vikings could possibly play a game there but there are some limitations. The seating is built for baseball, not football. However, I am interested in hearing your opinions. Comment and let me know!

Will Tsuyoshi Nishioka Grace Target Field?

Tsuyoshi NishiokaLast Friday, it was announced that Japanese superstar Tsuyoshi Nishioka may be headed to the Minnesota Twins next season. The Minnesota Twins won the bidding war to get the rights to negotiate a deal with the Japanese star - a $5 million price tag. The team has until December 26 to work out a deal. He could play either short stop or second base and is a switch hitter. Last season, he hit .346 with 206 hits, the first Japanese player to hit over 200 hits since Ichiro Suzuki. He also stole 22 bases. This player could generate some buzz in the middle infield.

Target Field Upgrades

Target FieldAfter a wonderful 1st season at Target Field, upgrades are already being made for the brand new stadium. Apparently they will spend $6 million on the new upgrades. One of the upgrades includes a new scoreboard. The new scoreboard will hang above right field seating area. A 100-foot tall LED-lit column will sit alongside the scoreboard, which will be called the "Twins Tower." Twins spokesman Chris Iles says the improvements to the ballpark will include adjustments to audio-visual elements and concession areas as well as a variety of aesthetical changes. There will also be free Wi-Fi Internet service provided throughout the ballpark. The Twins are calling it their "TwiFi" network.
